The Oportunidades program supports young people for 2 to 3 years, equipping them with technical and vocational skills, and values that prepare them for a successful university career. This is achieved through a comprehensive curriculum that includes English as a Second Language, Computer Programming, Vocational Orientation, Citizenship and Employability Training.
The Oportunidades program aims to prepare young people with the highest standards of education and therefore places a priority on training them in the latest trends.
The Program focuses on technology and innovation as a cross-cutting theme to develop STEAM careers, where young people work on projects such as 3D printing, modeling, and robotics to develop their skills in trending topics and showcase their accomplishments at academic achievement fairs.
During my time as an Oportunidades Citizen, I learned much more than just academic subjects. I discovered the importance of teamwork and collaboration; I learned to be more organized and to manage my time effectively. I also learned to be more critical and reflective by analyzing information and developing my critical thinking skills. In addition, I learned to be more aware of my own strengths and weaknesses and to look for opportunities to improve and grow as a student and as a person. I am grateful for the education I have received and for the skills and values I am acquiring along the way.
What I like most about the teaching methods at Oportunidades is the dynamism, the respect they have for you, and the freedom to ask any questions and even express our opinions, no matter how crazy they sound, without fear of being mocked or made to feel bad. I've learned a lot in the short time I've been in the Program. I've also discovered that I love Math; the classes are fantastic. I think I have learned a lot and it has been very beneficial in my high school classes.
Through the Program, I learned the values of "CRIARSE", gained self-awareness in areas I had never explored before. I learned to be cooperative, to work hard, to focus on my goals and to never stop learning. Academically, I've learned that I can be very good at writing, reading, and giving speeches, and that while some subjects can confuse me, I can also learn something new and interesting from them. I learn from my classmates, my teachers, and how to be a good Oportunidades Citizen.
